Membership in the Descendants of Swiss Settlers is open to men and women, aged 18 years or older, who are lineally descended from a Swiss man or woman who settled in North America prior to 5 March 1798, as this marks the end of the Old Swiss Confederacy. 

Additionally, the applicant may claim lineal descent from a Swiss man or woman whose descendant(s) left Switzerland and resided outside of Switzerland for an interim period before coming to North America prior to 5 March 1798.

A Society Life Membership costs $275 plus a $25 Registrar's fee. Supplemental Applications may be submitted for $65 each.

In lieu of submitting an onerous and inordinate amount of documentation, the Society allows for the submission of Record Copies from select lineage societies. A list of acceptable societies appears in the document below. 

If the Society whose Record Copy you desire to use to apply for membership in the Descendants of Swiss Settlers does not appear on the list, please, contact the Registrar and he will evaluate the Record Copy in question.
